Venezuela is facing 79 deaths for every 100,000 citizens. In 2013 alone, 24,763 people died due to violence and crime. 12% are violent crimes. The worst part is that 90% of these crimes go to cold cases by police.
Venezuelan National Guard, the National Police, and county police departments, are supposed to protect the civilians and keep respect for democracy rights, but in this case, they are used here to suppress protests of citizens who suffer from shortages of food, medicine and crime.
They viciously attack any protest firing guns and tear gas into apartments, and causing fires in some cases, not to mention old and young people suffering from the excessive use of tear gas all around the country. Protests has become a crime, according to Maduro's regime of terror, and students caught by police are treated as terrorists.
